As you’re probably aware, Americans love their ice cream. According to research conducted by NPD Group, in any 2-week period, 40% of people in the United States will reach for this frozen treat. In fact, the average American will actually consume ice cream 28.5 times this year. Chances are, however, that they will consume even more, averages being what they are.
While some people choose to purchase ice cream at the grocery store or market, others prefer going out for their favorite dessert. There’s just something about seeing the array of flavors behind the counter . . . Furthermore, unlike the grocery store, they can sample new flavors with all those bright and shiny plastic tasting spoons.
While the International Ice Cream Association member companies’ recent survey stated that vanilla was still the most popular flavor with 28% of their consumers, Americans are adventurous with their dessert choices.
This is especially true with ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and gelato. Even though they may reach for a scoop of vanilla, there are so many varieties of this flavor as well. Some prefer old-fashioned vanilla, while others want to see and taste the vanilla beans.
You probably also know that every year, there are roughly 1.5 billion gallons of ice cream and other frozen delights produced in the United States. Most of this ice cream is produced in June, just in time for summer. However, Americans enjoy eating ice cream throughout the year, including winter.
Since every day is a great day for ice cream, you can make it even more special with a bright, shiny spoon. Just imagine how everyone’s eyes will light up when they’re peering at all those colored spoons and tubs of ice cream. Chances are that they will also try a few new flavors and get a container to go.
